Knock On Wood

Wood is the mystery man in the list of candidates for the fourth and fifth rotation spots as his talent is undeniable. While with the Atlanta Braves, he went toe-to-toe with elite pitchers, generating a 2.78 ERA in 24 starts in 2014.

Since being acquired by the Dodgers, however, his role has served primarily as left-handed stopgap, starting a handful of games but pitching mostly out of the bullpen.

He may be too effective out of the pen, however, with a 2.85 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 41 innings in his career, which may paradoxically leave him as the odd man out in the rotation battle.

The ability is there, though, and when the opportunity arises, look for Wood to meet the challenge.
