Looking ahead to the 2017 NBA Draft, there’s three big reasons for the Lakers to stay away from Lonzo Ball.

It might seem like a great opportunity, but it could easily be fool’s gold. Lonzo Ball has been the star at the center of everything in college basketball this season. Taking UCLA through a strong showing in the regular season, but falling short on Friday night to Arizona in the PAC-12 tournament.

With his sights on the NBA as his next step, chances are that Ball will be one of the first players selected. Whether or not Los Angeles will be selecting that early is to be determined.

In order for that to happen, the Lakers have to finish with one of the three worst records in the league. Before they get there, they have to figure out what they’d do in any of those three positions.

The rival Celtics are in position to potentially pick ahead of the Lakers. Boston has the rights to Brooklyn’s 2017 first round pick, which is currently first overall, as the Nets are the worst team in the league.

Currently the only team eliminated from potential playoff contention, the Nets have only won 11 games as of writing this article. Los Angeles has 20 under their belt, but that’s not much better.

Taking the possibilities into consideration, here are three reasons that the Lakers should not draft Lonzo Ball.
