Reggie Bush

The Los Angeles Chargers are going to need to look for running back help during this NFL Free Agency. While Melvin Gordon certainly has turned the corner since his rookie slump and has proven to be a viable option, he hasn’t proved to be a consistent every down running back. Not many running backs in the league are, and that’s why the Bolts need to bring in a viable back up.

Although his performance certainly shot up in production from the year prior, Melvin Gordon still left Charger fans wanting more. As he battled injuries his production slowly flat-lined, leaving fans questionable on his future. Especially with the mindset of a Charger fan, where nearly every player gets hurt, we have to start worrying.

This need would not be present if the Chargers did not have so many free agent running backs this off-season. The Chargers lost Danny Woodhead to the Ravens, and Branden Oliver and Ronnie Hillman pursuing free agency. While the Chargers do have in-house options, there best bet is to pursue a USC veteran.

Reggie Bush should be a Los Angeles Charger next season, it makes the most sense

Reggie Bush should be a Los Angeles Charger next season, it makes the most sense. First of, Bush would provide a tremendous boost in the return game, something the Chargers have struggled with in the past.

Second, Bush practically fills the void that Danny Woodhead is leaving behind to a tee. The Chargers used Woodhead as a third down, and more primarily, a receiving back. Bush’s lateral quickness and relatively good hands would allow him to play nearly the same role as Woodhead.

Bush would serve as the perfect partner to Melvin Gordon in the back field, not only softening his reps but giving Phillip Rivers the dynamic he thrives with.
