March Madness 2017: Three Reasons why UCLA can Win it All
By Jason Reed
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, March Madness. March Madness 2017 is special, however, as UCLA has a great chance to win it all for the first time since 1995.
We are now entering the most unpredictable tournament that the sports world has ever seen. Every year millions of fans fill out their “perfect bracket” only for there to be a bracket buster in the first round. We may never see a perfect bracket, but we might see UCLA win it all in March Madness 2017.
The UCLA Bruins are one of the most storied schools in the history of the tournament. In fact, UCLA is the most storied school in the history of the tourney; winning an unprecedented 11 total championships.
In comparison, the next best school is Kentucky, with eight total championships. After that, we have Duke, Indiana, and North Carolina with five, and Connecticut with four. UCLA sits comfortably atop the throne of college basketball.
Despite this, the Bruins have failed to find recent success with the NCAA Tournament. First and foremost, it has been twenty years since UCLA last cut the nets as champions. Indiana is the only team that was listed that has not won a title since UCLA’s last.
The Bruins haven’t even made the elite eight for almost ten years now, their last appearance being in 2008. While they have made the sweet sixteen a number of times since then, that is not traditional UCLA basketball.
This year is different, however, this is going to be the year where UCLA wins it all. I filled out my bracket, and now I will give you three reasons why the UCLA Bruins will win it all during March Madness 2017.
