Dodgers Roster Preview 2017: The Outfield
By Evan Lovett
Trayce Thompson
Trayce Thompson is a tantalizing talent.
Though he was one of three prospects included in an overlooked three-way deal with the Reds and White Sox in 2015, he worked his way onto the Dodgers by April of 2016. He slugged .446 for the season’s first month, notching hits in 15 of his first 24 starts.
His stock continued to rise throughout the remainder of the first half, as he smashed 13 home runs in 236 at-bats. Then he fractured his back.

Rumors circulated that he would return at some point in the season, but that never materialized. After resting and recuperating over the off-season, he is back ready to prove his worth and earn a spot on the roster for 2017.
The power he puts on display is jaw-dropping. The Dodgers could use a bat like this in the lineup, or off the bench. He needs to prove he is healthy to avoid a late-spring demotion, but his power will definitely be seen in Los Angeles at some point this season.
