Happy 28th Birthday Blake Griffin! In honor of your special day, I would like to tell you 8 reasons why I think you’re awesome.

Your freckles
As someone who grew up with a freckled face I understand the ridicule associated with those pesky markings -the “connect the dots’ jokes, the worry that more will appear the more you’re in the sun, the bug confusion. It was exhausting.

But it sounds like you didn’t let it bother you, Blake, which just shows me what a cool and laid back kind of guy you are.

Your favorite cartoon is Scooby Doo!
That’s awesome! Who did you relate to? I’m assuming it’s Fred.

I always thought of myself as Velma.

Your power and finesse

At 6’ 10” and 251lbs you put the power in power forward. But what’s even more impressive is your finesse game. Your finger-roll baskets, cross over dribbles, assists, and no-look passes are a welcome development to your power game… and make you (wait for it) ……awesome!

The fact that you were homeschooled and turned out alright

I don’t understand homeschooling.  I think it would be a difficult way to grow up. But you were homeschooled from first to tenth grade and you turned out alright. You don’t seem socially awkward to me. You’ve got friends and you smile a lot. Maybe homeschooling isn’t so bad.

The fact that you hate the song Gangnum Style

Me too. I never understood the fascination with it. Psy? Who the heck is Psy and where did he come from? I can’t believe it was the first YouTube video to reach 1 million views.

Ridiculous.

I’m glad we agree on this one.

Your philanthropic work

Giving back is what it’s all about and your “Dunking for Dollars” which donates $100 to fight childhood obesity is awesome.

How about 28 dunks tonight against the Nuggets?

Your commercials

Dude, you’re funny. You definitely have a career in sitcoms after the basketball thing is done.

Your dunks

They are monstrous. They are viscous. They are award winning. I love watching you slam it home – and as long as you don’t get injured, keep’em up.

Happy 28th Birthday Blake. How about you give yourself the gift of a “W” against the Nuggets tonight!! That would be ~> awesome.
