While it’s great to think all players will stay with the Lakers, the latest Lakers rumors indicate that one might be on their way out.

Breaking up with the team that most recently drafted or traded for you is never an easy to go through. Not for the fans, the players, and yes, even the ownership.

One critical decision that Los Angeles faces in the upcoming free agency period is whether or not to make a trade. Paul George has expressed his own interest in coming to the Lakers, but that won’t be until two free agency periods from now.

In the meanwhile, we could see Los Angeles try and make a splash via major trade. The chances of that happening go way up when someone like Magic Johnson is in charge, too.

After getting raves for his intent on getting superstar level talnet back in purple and gold, it’s time for Johnson to put the money where his mouth is. It won’t be easy for him to swoon fans after how badly the last off-season went.

Just for the heck of it, the Lakers made two stunning signings a year ago in Timofey Mozgov and Luol Deng. Now, both veterans will not see the floor for the team again the rest of this season.

Johnson will have to know the right price for the right star.

That in mind, here’s a break down of how each of the members of the young core factors into that equation.
