USC Basketball: Three Keys to Upset Baylor in Round of 32
By Jason Reed
The USC Basketball team pulled off an upset in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against SMU. Now, how can they upset three-seeded Baylor?
First, it was the first four that the Trojans needed to overcome, and they did so with a 17 point comeback in route to a four-point win. Then, the USC Basketball team needed to defeat the SMU Mustangs. They did so with a 66-65 victory in a game that they were trailing for the majority of.
The USC basketball program has never really been that great and has constantly been outshined by cross-town rivals, UCLA. The farthest the Trojans have ever gone in the NCAA Tournament is the final four, happening twice – in 1940 and 1954.
In fact, this is the first time since 2009 that the Trojans have made it past the round of 64, and if they can win they will reach the Sweet Sixteen for only the fifth time; the third since the turn of the century.
The Trojans are very hot right now, and while they might not be the most talented team in the tournament if they can ride this hot streak anything can happen. We have seen the craziest of crazy during March Madness, and USC may be able to shock the world.
Therefore, with that being said, heading into the round of 32, what are USC’s three keys to continue their hot streak and upset Baylor?
