The Los Angeles Clippers have recently been right on the brink of greatness. What players will help their cause in this year’s NBA Free Agency class?

The Los Angeles Clippers will always be battling to win over Los Angeles’ affection. Despite being the better team in recent years, LA fans still gravitate over to the purple and gold. Even with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, coined as Lob City, the Clippers still seemingly fight this off-court battle.

What the Clippers need to match the Lakers in terms of popularity is that coveted NBA Championship. Some years they look oh so close, others they are plagued with injury. With a beat up San Antonio and Golden State the window may be opening for the Clippers, but it shouldn’t stop there.

The Clippers have a big problem heading into next season, both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul have player options. Both are likely to exercise these options in attempts for a bigger payday; while the Clippers likely will retain them there are chances they won’t.

However, not all of the Clippers focus should be turned towards the lob city tandem. The Clippers are going to need to find a dynamic play maker this off-season. While the cap space may not be exponential, with the Bird Years of Paul and Griffin they have some wiggle room.

They may not need another superstar, or be able to get one, but the Clippers do need something more. Paul Pierce is not the same truth as before and Jamal Crawford is not as dynamic. Therefore, heading into this year’s NBA free agency, what are realistic options for the Clippers?
