Clippers rumors: Is team starting to lose patience over lack of title?
By Keith Rivas
With the latest Clippers rumors, it’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room.
Whether or not the Clippers win an NBA title this year matters. Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan, and other pieces won’t want to stay forever if they can’t win.
Ultimately, it’s every player’s goal to win a championship. The core in place with the Clippers is there because of a championship window they had that could very well be closed.
While the Spurs and Warriors battle for the best record in the Western Conference, Los Angeles is stuck in the middle. A chance to play the Jazz could become a worst case scenario rather quickly.
“You feel like time is kind of passing by.”
Jamal Crawford
Oklahoma City isn’t far behind for the fifth seed. Currently sixth, the Thunder are just two games back with less than ten games to go.
Los Angeles has six games left, while Oklahoma City still has eight.
After a stunning loss versus Sacramento, Jamal Crawford had some choice words, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.
Per the report:
"“I think the more time you’re together, the more impatient you kind of become,” Crawford said Wednesday. “You feel like time is kind of passing by.”"
Should they self-destruct early in the playoffs this year, we’ll know our answer. It could be one of the worst ways a team has handled a title window in a long time, if not ever.
Also, it is imperative that their stars produce. Without solid games from their best players, the Clippers can’t expect to win at all. Big leads are also something they need to hold on to, as they lost a near 20-point lead to the Kings with around five minutes left.
