Dodgers Rumors: Each Dodgers’ Player Rating in MLB the Show 17
By Evan Lovett
Justin Turner – 87
Justin Turner is one of the most admirable Dodgers on the roster due to the leaps and bounds he has made as a player. Just a few seasons ago, Turner was nothing more than a role player on the New York Mets. The California State University of Fullerton alumni had one outlier season with the Mets, registering 113 hits in 117 games, but failed to do much more than that.
Since becoming a member of the Dodgers us fans have witness Turner grow from a utility man up to one of the best third basemen the league has to offer. Easing into his playing time, Turner has cemented himself within this Dodgers lineup and his hard work was repaid in terms of a four-year, $64 million contract.
The progression of Turner has been nothing short of outstanding. Starting with 109 games played in 2014, then 126 in 2015, then 151 in 2016, Turner jumped from 98 hits in one season to 153. Turner’s power was showcased with his 27 long bombs and 90 runs batted in, and his .275 average showed consistency.
Yet, despite finishing ninth in NL MVP voting, Turner was yet again robbed of an all-star appearance. However, MLB the Show got Turner’s rating right which puts him right up there with some of the best.
Turner undoubtedly earned his 87 that puts him near the top of the third base standings in this year’s edition of the game. I would not be surprised to see that rating jump to the nineties if Turner continues to progress as he has.
