Franklin Gutierrez – 79

Another new member of the Dodgers organization, Franklin Gutierrez joins Logan Forsythe with a 79 rating. However, unlike Logan Forsythe, Franklin Gutierrez does not seem to deserve the high rating that he has received. When comparing his stats to the others around his rating, it can be seen that Gutierrez should likely be rated lower than he is.

Guttierez is jumping ship from the Seattle Mariners to the Los Angeles Dodgers, failing to really do much as a Mariner. Outside of his 2010 Gold Glove, Guttierez failed to pull in any personal accolade and never put up great numbers.

Especially in recent years, Guttierez has not been showing up as often as the Dodgers would like him to in 2017. Gutierrez has not played in 100 games or more since 2010, showing his inconsistency. While he has done well in his short amount of time played, he is not a dynamic player in the big leagues.

While Gutierrez’ role is to serve as a platoon partner and it will suit him better, it does not justify the 79 rating. If you want to load up his power against left-handed pitching that is one thing, but putting him in the same boat as Logan Forsythe and just under Adrian Gonzalez is absolutely absurd.
