Dodgers Rumors: Each Dodgers’ Player Rating in MLB the Show 17
By Evan Lovett
Sergio Romo – 82
Sergio Romo was, for a period, one of the most dominant closers in baseball. With a 2.71 ERA and 84 saves, the man with the no-dot slider owns one of the most difficult pitches to hit in all of baseball. So it would seem that an 82 is an understated rating.
Now take into account the fact that Romo is four years removed from being a closer and has been bogged down by injuries over the last two years and the 82 might actually be a bit high. Though his 2.64 ERA in 40 games with the Giants in 2016 looks solid on paper, there is a reason the right-hander was never really a candidate to resign with the club with whom he won three World Series.
Romo is now considered injury prone, but he still has that slider, so while an 82 rating might be a little high, there are going to be nights where he outpitches that number as well.
