Pedro Baez – 81
The Pedro Baez rating seems about right. The notoriously slow worker is also an effective reliever and deserves to be rewarded as such. With a fastball that has been clocked near 100 miles per hour, Baez has struck out 161 batters in his 149 inning career and was, at times, the Dodgers most dependable reliever not named Kenley Jansen.
Baez will be spending the beginning of the season on the disabled list so we may not see the right-hander until May, but the 81 rating seems accurate. Though the right-hander will often flourish in late innings of a tight game, there are other performances where he will just languish. The talent is palpable, but the consistency is not – that is why the ranking is right in line with what is to be expected.
Although he is likely slated to start the season on the DL, Baez will still be a big asset for the Dodgers in 2017, hence his inclusion in this list. Now, if he can only pick up the pace a little bit. . .
