On the other side of the passing game, the Rams also need more depth at the wide receiver position. Tavon Austin has not performed as the number once receiver that the Rams wanted him to be and the team recently parted ways with Kenny Britt. Although the Rams did sign Robert Woods out of Buffalo, they still have holes to fill at the receiver position.

Having a compensatory third round pick, which is the 69th pick overall, is a blessing for the Rams. This gives them a realistic option to play receiver, not some seventh round dud that won’t make the roster. In this third round, the Rams should turn to the Ohio State Buckeyes and select Curtis Samuel.

Samuel ran a blisteringly quick 40-yard dash with a 4.31 mark.  Samuel was very versatile in college as well, not only playing receiver but running the ball quite often for the Buckeyes. Samuel rushed for 771 yards with eight touchdowns last season to go along with his 865 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.

While Samuel could play a role similar to Ty Montgomery on the Green Bay Packers, he would most likely be placed in the slot with his dynamic speed. Plus, he would join Adoree’ Jackson in the special teams, which would provide the Rams with perhaps the youngest, best, special teams returners.
