Dodgers News: Analyzing Three Takeaways from Game Two
By Evan Lovett
Logan Forsythe is going to be Fun to Watch
Second baseman Logan Forsythe seems to fit in as a Dodger. With deceptive power, a gritty approach and a low-key but competitive demeanor, he could be mistaken as a right-handed, late-career Chase Utley. Utley happens to be his primary backup, and both players are complementary.
Forsythe is expected to play some third base to get Utley more at-bats, and having both players in the lineup at the same time will provide a boon for the ball club, as they each have a quiet but fiery approach necessary for winning games.
Another player Logan Forsythe brings to mind is Mark Grudzielanek, a second baseman for the Dodgers from 1998 – 2002. Grudzielanek was a hard-nosed, borderline All-Star that came to compete every day. Like Forsythe, he worked hard on both sides of the ball, always improving his defense while maintaining above-average offensive skills.
Regardless of comparisons, Forsythe will strive to make his own name in Los Angeles. He is off to a fine start, hitting .500 with a 1.167 OPS over the two games. Of course, there are 160 games remaining but Dodger fans are getting a taste of what to expect from the former Tampa Bay Ray, and evidence as to why so many in Tampa Bay were forlorn when the club jettisoned Forsythe.

Bad for the Rays, good for the Dodgers. Keep an eye on Forsythe – he will be hard to miss, as he’ll probably be the guy whose uniform is dirty by the second inning each game.
