The legacy that Kobe Bryant has left with the Los Angeles Lakers is apparent. However, this said legacy often causes the black mamba to be over hyped.

I’m sorry Lakers fans, I know that all of you reading this likely already hate me just from the headline of this article. Let me get this clear, I am in no way attempting to undermine Kobe’s legacy, or what he has done for the game of basketball. He is definitely one of the best to ever lace them up, but more often than not we get lose in our own love for the black mamba and overrate his abilities.

A perfect example of this is the Michael Jordan comparisons. Kobe Bryant is definitely great and his game is very similar to Michael Jordan’s, but when I see Lakers fans constantly raving that Kobe is better than MJ I cannot help but shake my head. I can’t help but picture Lavar Ball when I hear comments like that.

Kobe Bryant may not be that all-time great that we picture him to be. While he certainly is a top ten, maybe top fifteen all-time player many Lakers fans will go as far as saying he is the second best only behind Jordan himself.

Today, I  am here to give you three reasons why these assertions are often biased and miss the mark. Any disagreements let’s settle civilly, as I know I will be hated for bad mouthing perhaps the most beloved Laker of all-time.
