Lakers Rumors: Possible Trade Packages for D’Angelo Russell

Circling amongst the various Lakers rumors is the constant trade discussion. Today, we take a look at trade packages the Lakers could receive for D’Angelo Russell.
D’Angelo Russell, the former second overall selection, see’s himself in a weird position with the Los Angeles Lakers. Russell was drafted as, and still seems to be, the Lakers planned star of the future. However, Russell has not progressed as quickly as some would have liked and seems to lack that superstar prowess that the Lakers organization wants.
Russell is a solid player and he definitely can contribute to the Lakers in the future. However, he may never be that star, that number one scoring option that the Lakers so desire. Especially now, when his stock is still relatively high, the Lakers may look to sell on the young guard.
Perhaps these talks would not be occurring if it wasn’t for the incredible hype regarding UCLA freshman Lonzo Ball. Ball had recently committed to the NBA Draft, with the Lakers seemingly being the perfect fit for the nineteen-year-old star. On the court and off the court, Ball already has that superstar prowess and could be the guy the Lakers build around in the future.
Discussions have been made regarding Russell and Ball, with Russell likely moving over to shooting guard like he has to end this year to make room for the more versatile Ball. However, if the Lakers could get some guys in more areas of need, they should shop the idea of dealing Russell if they do draft Ball.
