2017 NFL Draft: Chargers Draft a Quarterback in this Seven Round Mock Draft
By Jason Reed
Here it is, the man that has the task of potentially taking over Phillip Rivers job once he finally decides to hang it up. I previously discussed Webb as a third round option for the Chargers, and here our mock draft confirms that destiny in Webb coming to the Chargers. Webb is a talented quarterback that has certain holes that hurt his stock, however, the system he would enter in Los Angeles would help sum up these holes.
Webb is a talented quarterback, that should never be in question. In his senior year the quarterback started 12 games, completing 61.6% of his passes for 4295 yards and 37 touchdowns. Webb averaged just about three passing touchdowns a game along with 357 yards per game. Add in his six rushing touchdowns and the man was a scoring machine.
Webb has the perfect frame to be a successful NFL quarterback
Webb has the perfect frame to be a successful NFL quarterback, standing in at six-feet-five inches and weighing 230 pounds, he may be no mobile quarterback but could be a pocket presence.
Webb has an identical frame to that of Blake Bortles, and while Bortles has struggled, he has also shown massive potential.
The biggest issue regarding Webb’s game is that scouts question his decision making and his accuracy in long passes. One scout goes as far to say that he is a developmental quarterback, and would need to develop in a system to grow and make an impact.
Wow, what do you know, that is exactly the situation the Chargers are in now. If Webb is under Rivers for the first four seasons of his career, soaking in his wisdom like a sponge, he could easily turn into a dynamic quarterback for the Chargers.
