Lakers Rumors: Possible Trade Packages for Julius Randle
By Jason Reed
In this deal, the Lakers would be getting an already solid player alongside one of the most promising young talents in the league. Steven Adams has been the Thunder’s number two option behind Russell Westbrook and has proven to be a good center in this league. Sabonis, who was the 11th overall selection in last year’s draft, has shown promise to be an even better player than Randle.
Adams has averaged 11.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while playing second fiddle to Russell Westbrook. Insert the 23-year-old center into the Lakers system where they would to feed him in the post and rely on his game and he could easily average fifteen points and ten rebounds per game.
Sabonis, although he only averages 20 minutes per game, has put together decent, not great, numbers for the Thunder. He averages 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game coming off the bench at power forward and has the ability to shoot the three-ball. Sabonis is one of the more highly touted young big men in the game, so as he progresses we may see something special.
Overall, while adding Steven Adams and Domantas Sabonis would be nice, it would be hard to see the Lakers make this deal. The two are not that big of an improvement from Randle, and the team is likely seeking guys that can be an improvement now and in the future, not just the future.
Especially with Steven Adams massive contract, this deal is not likely to occur, but hey, if 2K says that this trade makes sense, maybe it does.
