This trade may not have the star power of the other deals in this list, but this is arguably the best deal the Lakers could make. Yes, they are giving up a top three pick that could turn into the superstar of the future, but in return, they are receiving a solid shooting guard that would join the back court alongside D’Angelo Russell.

Plus, perhaps the most intriguing part of this deal, is that the Lakers are getting the Trailblazers 2018 first round pick. While the Blazers would get a star such as Josh Jackson to play alongside Damian Lillard, they likely won’t be leaps and bounds better than this season. Right now the Trailblazers own the sixteenth overall selection, and if they weren’t 8-2 their last ten games they would be a lottery team.

You figure the Lakers are giving up a top three selection for a solid role player in CJ McCollum, yet they would  be receiving the Trailblazer’s first round – which would be great compensation as they will not have a first round pick if they land their top three pick this season

As for McCollum, he has turned into a great scoring option and would likely be the number one option on the Los Angeles Lakers. This season McCollum has averaged 23.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. This is exactly the kind of scorer the Lakers need, and would be a great partner for D’Angelo Russell to develop with.

Overall, despite its first impressions, this deal would be very promising for the Lakers. Portland would also likely ask for Jordan Clarkson as well, but it is still a deal that could be done.
