The Los Angeles Rams are without a first round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Therefore, let’s take a look at how the Rams’ last seven first round picks have performed.

The Rams made a huge splash in last year’s draft, practically giving up a truckload to haul in quarterback Jared Goff. Wanting to make a statement in their new city, the Rams sent the Titans six total selections in return for last year’s number one overall pick along with some late round picks.

The Rams gave up last year’s first round pick, two second round’s, and a third round pick alongside this year’s first and third round. Luckily, the Rams are receiving a late third round pick via compensation, however, they are still without a first round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Did it all work out? Well, we have to wait and see how Jared Goff develops and if he can put together a good career. Some naysayers are already calling him a bust, but keep in mind he played a half a season in an already broken coaching system. Goff still needs talent around him, but it is far too soon to label him a draft bust.

In a new coaching system alongside other young guys, Goff may excel and prove all of the naysayers wrong. Regardless, he is essentially worth two first round picks, including this year’s fifth, so it may be a tough pill to swallow for Rams fans.

But, let’s not be pessimistic. Instead of looking at this year and weeping over no first round pick, let’s take a look at the last seven first round selections, dating back to 2012, and see how they have fared.
