3. Todd Gurley – 10th Overall 2015

Had Gurley put together a better season in 2016 he would easily have been number two on this list, and possibly even number one. However, after a fantastic rookie year, Gurley had a bit of a sophomore slump. Although he still played decently and is one of the best running backs of the future, he has yet to prove he belongs above the other two guys on this list.

Having won the 2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year award alongside a pro bowl appearance, Gurley certainly made his mark on the league in his rookie season. In 2015 Gurley rushed for 1106 yards on 229 attempts, putting the ball in the end zone ten times.

Last season, however, although it was still fairly decent, Gurley took a slight step back in his output. In 278 rushing attempts Gurley carried the ball for 885 yards while scoring six rushing touchdowns. In 49 more attempts, Gurley had 4 fewer touchdowns, averaged 1.6 yards less, and had his approximate value cut in half from eight down to four.

Of course, one step back year is no reason to write Gurley off in any way, as he is still one of the best young backs in the league. While Gurley continues to develop as a player there is no doubt in my mind that he will see more pro bowls and accolades. However, as of now, there are two first round picks that are better than him.
