In this deal we see the Lakers swap Clarkson alongside the Rockets first round selection in return for big man Enes Kanter. If the Lakers do secure a top three selection and plan to draft Lonzo Ball, this would be perfect as it would give the Lakers a great big man. Already owning a top three pick, it would be useless for the Lakers to draft a questionable big man in the high twenties when they can simply bring in an established one.

The Lakers are flipping Jordan Clarkson, who would be an impact off the bench, for Enes Kanter that would instantly become the starter for the Lakers. While the silver lining of this deal would be that the Lakers likely wouldn’t have much of a budget to spend in free agency, they would still have a solid core to build around in the future.

Heck, if the Lakers could free up space by moving Mozgov or Deng they could bring in a star like Gordon Hayward, so this deal isn’t necessarily tying their hands together. Kanter has put together solid numbers coming off of the bench for the Thunder as well – averaging 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Being a starter for the Lakers, Kanter could likely reel in ten rebounds a game, making him a double-double machine. Kanter would be a great addition for the Lakers, and he would not cost much by only dealing Jordan Clarkson and a late first round pick.
