Richard Sherman

Rams fans may hate him, but the fact of the matter is that Richard Sherman can straight up ball. We already dedicated an entire article to how the Rams could land Sherman, yet his inclusion on this list seemed necessary. There were mixed responses to the idea of Sherman playing for the Rams. Some fans loved it, as he is a quality player, and other fans hated it simply because it’s Richard Sherman.

The fact is that the Rams are desperately low on cornerback talent. Lucky for them, one of the best corners in the game has been shopped by his team, and it likely would not take an extreme amount to get Sherman. We discussed before that a deal involving another shopped player, Trumaine Johnson, alongside a future third round pick may be enough for the Seahawks.

The Rams would effectively be trading one year of Johnson’s services for two years of Sherman’s services. This is not only a longer contract for the Rams to hold onto, but it is a significant improvement at the position. With 30 career interceptions, there is no doubt that Sherman knows the position, and he can still line up against the best the game has to offer.

While acquiring Richard Sherman may leave a sour taste in the mouths of Rams fans, it would be a move that instantly boosts their secondary and provides a relatively cheap upgrade. Sure, he does have a larger contract, but it is nothing massive and at the very worst the Rams have to pay it for two seasons. Regardless, Sherman is worth the money.
