Sammy Watkins

With the Bills reportedly questioning whether or not to activate Watkins fifth year option for 2018, it could be a sign that Watkins could be shopped around the league. Because of his injury past the Bills may be looking to avoid giving Watkins that extra season, as they would have to pay for an injured receiver. However, the Chargers should overlook these doubts and pursue Watkins.

The former first round pick would garner a decent asking price out of the Bills, but it should be a price the Chargers are willing to pay. If that price includes a second or third round pick, the Chargers should undoubtedly enteratin the idea. One of the largest areas of need for the Bolts is the wide receiver position, and if they are going to draft one in the second or third, why not trade it?

Sammy Watkins would fit nicely in a system with Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin, likely lining up in the slot and giving Phillip Rivers three viable receiving options to throw to. Sure, he was injured last season, but Watkins has proven what he can do when healthy, and if the Chargers can get that talent alongside two established guys it will give them one of the best passing offenses in the game.

In 2015 Watkins caught for over 1000 yards, nine touchdowns, and averaged over eighty yards a game. Put him in a system where he is no longer the best guy, and does not get the best corners lined up against him, and Watkins could explode to a great year for the Chargers.
