In this deal, the Lakers are effectively sending away a huge contract in Timofey Mozgov only to absorb another big one with Ryan Anderson. Anderson does make more money than Mozgov, however, he is a better talent and would either be a great asset for the Lakers or would be much easier to trade away than Mozgov. Regardless, the best piece in this deal is young center Clint Capela.

The Lakers already have a good young center in Ivica Zubac, and bringing in Capela would cover their grounds for the next several seasons. Capela is turning 23 in March, and Zubac has just turned 20, showing how young these two really are. Neither really have blow you away type numbers, but they do show immense promise and when together the two would be dangerous.

Zubac averages 7.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.9 blocks per game while Capela averages 12.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. Combined, they averaged 39.9 minutes per game, if we do basic math and assume that between them they play all 48 minutes, together they would average 18.8 points, 15.2 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game.

While those numbers certainly aren’t amazing, they will both only continue to get better and serve the developing agenda the Lakers have. Add in the veteran stretch four of Ryan Anderson, who averages 13.6 points per game and shoots over 40% from beyond the arc, and the Lakers would get a great return out of Larry Nance Jr.
