Victor Cruz

The salsa dancing, former New York Giant, Victor Cruz is yet to find a home heading into the 2017 season. While Cruz has been prolific throughout hit career, he has not put up great numbers in recent years. However, the Rams should look past the limits his 2015 injury placed on him and pursue Cruz as a veteran leader in the receiver core.

The Rams offense could use leaders like Cruz, and at only 30 years old, he still has a few productive years left in him. Varying outlooks between Cruz and Austin in the slot, Woods and Cruz at wide out will only increase Cruz’ productivity. We have seen him take a back seat to other receivers in the Giants core, and if the Rams utilize him in the best situations it could turn Cruz back into the threat he once was.

Once catching a total of 1536 yards in a season, Cruz managed to get about a third of that number with 586 yards last year. Still, coming off of injury it was an improvement from the 337 yards he logged in 2015. Cruz only had one touch down last season but that does not mean he cannot get into the end zone, two years removed from injury Cruz should have a newfound confidence.

Especially if he is entered into a system where the spotlight can be shared, and not dominated by somebody like Odell Beckham, Cruz could thrive. Put him on a young Rams team and allow him to mentor not only the receivers but Jared Goff and I guarantee we see a resurgence from Victor Cruz.
