Many people expect the Rams to draft a cornerback in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Adoree’ Jackson is a name that is tossed around, alongside Tre’Davious White. However, in this draft simulator, we see the Rams address another area of need by selecting wideout Chris Godwin. Godwin, a junior out of Penn State, would be a fantastic selection for the Rams.

Godwin had a fairly decent NFL Combine, but it was nothing that blew anybody away. This is causing Godwin’s stock to fall to perhaps the third round, but here, we see him selected in the very early second. That is not to say that it is a wasted pick, as Godwin is a talented receiver and his stats at Penn State show that.

In his junior year, last season Godwin put together a great season. In 14 games with Penn State last year Godwin caught a total of 982 yards, 11 touchdowns, averaging 16.6 yards per reception. Godwin added this performance to his sophomore year performance that totaled 1101 total yards caught, giving Godwin over 2000 yards in two years.

Tavon Austin has been decent for the Rams but has not lived up to the tremendously high ceiling that was put up for him. With the departure of Kenny Britt, the Rams receiving core only consists of Austin and newly acquired Robert Woods. The receiver core definitely needs a boost – Godwin provides just that.
