First Four

Los Angeles @ Denver (9/11)

Their season opener will take place in Colorado against the Denver Broncos. A year ago, the Broncos dealt with the transition at quarterback that still hasn’t been too fruitful. While it would’ve been nice to start in Los Angeles, this will be an opportunity for the Chargers to show they’re for real. Gaining not only a divisional edge, but a playoff edge if it comes down to a wild card battle will be on the line right away.

Miami @ Los Angeles (9/17)

Next up for the Chargers will be the Dolphins in their first game at StubHub Center. Miami was close to being a dangerous team last season, squeaking into the AFC playoff picture as a wild card. This will be a pretty even match up, with the winner being decided late in the fourth quarter. The key to the Chargers winning this game is getting in Ryan Tannehill’s head often and early.

Kansas City @ Los Angeles (9/24)

Now the Charges will get a taste of what it’s like to play a likely contender. The Chiefs made it to the divisional round last year as the second seed, but couldn’t protect home field against the visiting Steelers. They’ll be a real problem for the Chargers, even away from Kansas City.

Philadelphia @ Los Angeles (10/1)

To kick off October and close out the first quarter of their tough schedule, Carson Wentz will get a rude awakening. Los Angeles could find several ways to disrupt the second year quarterback, but it’ll be a battle worth watching. Depending on how the Eagles come flying out of the gate, this could be one of the best games to watch out of the first four.
