NBA Free Agency 2017: Five potential destinations for Chris Paul
By Keith Rivas
Los Angeles Lakers
Another option for Chris Paul would be to go to the team he was supposed to all those years ago. When the Lakers originally had a deal in place to acquire Paul from the New Orleans Pelicans, the NBA was about to change forever.
It was one of the reasons the trade was vetoed.
Since then, the Lakers have continuously struggled to find their point guard of the future. They have some ideas and some talented young core, but that doesn’t always solve the most pressing issues.
Joining the Lakers would be one of the places he’d be best received. Not having to relocate or change his routine much would do Paul a lot of good at this point in his career.
The Lakers aren’t just looked for veteran presence anymore, but superstars. Chris Paul fits that bill and it’d be shocking if Magic Johnson didn’t at least try and have a conversation with Paul about deciding to go to the purple and gold.
Plus, if he did go to the Lakers, he could be joined by Paul George after next season.
Imagine how the Lakers faithful would feel about that.
