He could mess with their chemistry

A final thing to consider about Paul George has to do with his immediate affect on their chemistry. Outside of playing well together, good chemistry will go a long way in Los Angeles.

Someone like George will come in with an ego. It’s not necessarily bad, but it has its side effects that this core might not be ready to handle.

Players like Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell had to go through the fading of a star with Kobe Bryant. Getting George on their team means they may have to prepare themselves for that same or similar scenario.

It could hinder Russell above all else. On top of that, depending on who the Lakers decide to draft, things could go downhill if they’re not careful.

Lastly, if Los Angeles wants their current young star to develop into stars of their own, having George in town could put a stop to that. That’s not to say they wouldn’t make the playoffs with the star power that George does bring, but it has its consequences.
