Lakers Rumors: Ranking Each Superstar’s Chance of Landing in LA
By Jason Reed
Perhaps the most constant Lakers rumors are regarding an inevitable superstar joining the team. What exactly is each star’s chance in joining the Lakers?
The Lakers are desperate for some star power, that is without question. D’Angelo Russell was drafted to be the face of the new Lakers, and while he is making steps towards that role, he is not quite there yet. Russell leads a promising young Lakers core that definitely has a ton of upside, it just lacks the experience and NBA IQ that is so needed to be successful.
The Lakers could sit around, keep drafting smart, and eventually turn the franchise around. The 76ers took a similar approach and at the beginning of the season with Joel Embiid on the court, the team was thriving. The Lakers could turn their focus to the proverbial Magic Johnson of the future, Lonzo Ball, and go from there. That is assuming, of course, that the Lakers even maintain their pick.
However, the most logical route for the Lakers is to bring in the franchise’s next superstar to help accelerate this process. Think of the Los Angeles Lakers, there is always a superstar on the team. Whether it is Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Shaquille O’Neal, or Kobe Bryant every successful Lakers team held a superstar.
So, which superstars are a fit in Los Angeles? Lakers rumors have repeated certain names over and over again. Today, we are going to take a look at these superstars attached to the Lakers rumors and rank the likeliness of each one landing in Los Angeles.
