2017 NFL Draft: Rams’ Best Draft Options in the Second Round
By Jason Reed
Today is the day. It is a day filled with hope, promise, and excitement – it is the 2017 NFL Draft. Without a first round selection, what are the Rams best options for their first selection in the second round?
Last year we witnessed the newly moved Los Angeles Rams send shock waves throughout the NFL when they traded up for the number one overall selection to select quarterback Jared Goff. Those the effects of those shock waves are still imminent, as the Rams must sacrifice the fifth overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans.
While that bold move may not have worked out in the first year in Los Angeles, there is still a lot of hope for this team. The extremely young Rams are now led by the youngest head coach in NFL history, Sean McVay, and are hungry. With a schedule that may lead the Rams to an 8-8 record, we will see improvement as the Rams attempt to own LA over the Chargers.
This 2017 NFL Draft will be bittersweet for Rams’ fans. With a rich talent pool in the first Round the Rams are truly missing out on an impact player. Clemson’s Mike Williams, the best receiver in the draft, is mostly projected to go fifth overall. The Rams would love to bring in a talent of Williams’ caliber, yet they can’t.
However, there are still good options available for the team in the second round. With some very particular needs in mind, what are the Rams three best options in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft?
