Lakers Rumors: Possible Big Man Targets for the Lakers with the Rockets Pick
By Jason Reed
In the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft the Lakers selected promising center Ivica Zubac. According to these Lakers rumors, which big men may they target with their second pick this year?
First things first, the Lakers would likely only select a prominent big man with the second pick if they secure their own first round pick. If not, we may see the Lakers take the route of a small forward or shooting guard to supplement D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, and company.
However, if they do land their first round pick they have another first round selection, slated for 28th overall. While the most polarizing prospects in the draft will be gone, there will still be solid options. Of these solid options, the Lakers very well may consider a big man.
The Lakers do not really need a power forward, that is evident. With Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. the team is set at the four, however, they could still eye one in the chance they want to deal either Randle or Nance for a prominent star. Regardless, bringing in another young center to play alongside Zubac seems to be the more logical route.
Timofey Mozgov is not good, I am sorry. The Lakers need to dump his salary as soon as they possibly can, as any draft pick can play as good, if not better, for far cheaper. Tarik Black also shows signs of promise but is not that great himself either.
Therefore, with that being said, we may see the Lakers selecting a big man in the late first round. According to these Lakers rumors, who might that big man be?
