Gerald Everett – Tight End, South Alabama

The Los Angeles Rams actually traded down from their first selection in the draft. The Rams moved down seven spots in a deal with the Bills, but also reeled in an additional third round selection. Starting off the draft, the Rams made a good move here.

However, from what I have seen around the Rams community, fans are very luke warm about this selection of Gerald Everett. The Rams did have a need for a tight end and picked the best one available. With no great options still available via free agency, the Rams arguably did the best thing here. However, they could have addressed other areas of need such as receiver or corner.

Regardless, I think this selection for the Rams was a good one. The team needs to give Jared Goff as many weapons as they can to further his development, and they gave him just that. Sure, Everett may not be a huge impact on day one, but with his freakish athleticism and his size, he could develop into a great catching tight end.

Everett does need to iron out his route running and his elusiveness on the field, but that is exactly what the NFL is made for. Put in a professional system with professional coaches will only help Everett, and while he may struggle to find his footing at first, he likely will develop into something great for the Rams.

In his first year, Everett will likely find most of his success in the red zone – leading to a good amount of touchdowns with a good start in total yards.

2017-18 Stats Prediction: 45 receptions, 475 yards, 6 touchdowns.
