Cooper Kupp – Wide Receiver, Eastern Washington

This pick, I am not entirely in love with, but could still blossom into something promising. Adding yet another weapon to Jared Goff’s arsenal, the Rams brought in Cooper Kupp. The promising thing about Kupp is he excelled in the two games played against PAC-12 opponents. With the PAC-12 being so rich in talent, this is a sign that the NFL transition may not be too difficult.

Overall in his senior year, Kupp caught the ball a staggering 117 times for 1700 yards and 17 touchdowns. Kupp obviously dominated his peers in the Big Sky Conference, and rightfully so. Kupp is a natural-born receiver than can run routes with the best of them and has some of the best hands in the draft.

Running in the slot throughout college has been good for Kupp, and it is apparent by his stat line. However, at the NFL level, he may not have as much success, as his biggest drawback is his speed.

Kupp is not that fast compared to the level of talent in the NFL and may struggle to get by with his route running alone. He does show great agility, but his off the line speed is not the best. Kupp will have to work harder than most guys to succeed, but that may not be a problem.

Kupp may be the master of the yards after catch in his first season with the Rams. Running short slant or drag routes will be the best of his ability, due to his great agility. A short throw option, Kupp may catch the ball a lot in 2017.

2017-18 Stats Prediction: 64 receptions,  580 yards, 4 touchdowns.
