Closing Thoughts

The Clippers are at a crossroads this summer they wished they never had to go through. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are free agents, with other stars like J.J. Redick also available for teams to talk to soon.

Re-signing one and not the other is a worse play of the field than getting neither to come back. If they just retain Chris Paul, they won’t be as explosive as they can be with Griffin on the floor and healthy. Since health is a major factor in Griffin’s contributions after the regular season, the team may look elsewhere.

There are going to be plenty of players worth pursuing this off-season, so the Clippers must keep their options open there.

As for Doc Rivers, there’s more than enough reason to move past him. The success has simply not followed him to Los Angeles after guiding the Boston Celtics to a title.
