Starting off these possible trade packages with the worst deal of the three, we see the Clippers exchange Jordan for Indiana big man Al Jefferson and a first round pick in this year’s draft. The Clippers currently do not have a first round pick in this year’s draft, and this deal would cover this basis. However, it is a significant drop-off in terms of talent at the center position.

The point of this deal would definitely be to free up cap space for a future involving Griffin and Paul. Jefferson is set to make $10 million next season opposed to Jordan’s $23 million, giving the Clippers more wiggle room. Although the Clippers would only have Jefferson for one season, adding this first round pick would help them prepare for life after Jordan.

At 18th overall, the Clippers could still snag up a promising prospect. Guards like Josh Hart, Luke Kennard, and Terrance Ferguson could all be selected at number 18, all making a nice one-two punch with Chris Paul. Heck, the Clippers may even be able to snag up hometown player TJ Leaf, or promising rebounder Jarrett Allen with this pick.

Overall, while this deal is the worst of the three that are included in this list, it is done with a specific purpose in mind. If the Clippers are unable to juggle the contract’s of their big three, this could be the route the team takes.
