2. Paul George

2017-18 Record with George: 29-53 (+3 wins)

This one came as a huge surprise as Paul George himself was only good enough to add-on three wins to the Los Angeles Lakers. George has been the most talked about superstar to head to Los Angeles, with his arrival being the most likely of this trio. Despite that, putting Paul George on this Lakers team apparently would not make that big of an impact on day one.

With only one year left under contract chances are the Lakers will wait to sign George rather than overpaying in a trade for him. If they were to trade, they likely would have to send a package including small forward Brandon Ingram. However, for simplicity’s sake, we left Brandon Ingram on the team making him a solid bench asset.

In this simulation Paul George did not play to the standard that we would expect. George averaged 19.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game as a member of the Lakers. While not entirely bad, this is under achieving for a player of George’s caliber and despite being the number one option on the court his scoring actually diminished.

In a real world setting the Lakers would look to surround George with more established talent to help make their sales pitch to him a tad bit juicier. If this simulation shows anything it is that the Lakers should take that route, as Paul George alone may not be enough to turn this franchise around.
