Small chance of being dealt:

  • Andre Ethier and Joc Pederson

While more likely than not we will not see the duo of Ethier and Pederson dealt, there is a chance that the Dodgers part ways with one of the two. They both have a common theme, slugging left-handed batters that struggle against left-handed pitching. With one of them being young, and one on the later end of his career, these two represent opposite ends of the spectrum.

It may be best for the Dodgers to get rid of Andre Ethier. I love Ethier as much as the next guy, but he is hurt far too often and quite frankly just does not fit on the Dodgers anymore. The team has seemingly entered a new era, leaving Andre Ethier out of the fold.

However, because of his massive contract and injury status, it will be very hard for the Dodgers to deal Ethier. While it may be the best move, it is also an unlikely move. They could do what they did with Matt Kemp, eating most of Ethier’s salary simply to open up a roster spot. This may be the best route for the Dodgers, however, we may not see it done.

Then there is Joc Pederson. We discussed possible trade packages for Pederson, and they all had a common theme. In each of the deals, Pederson was the big league piece involved to acquire a superstar pitcher. The Dodgers have actually played better without Pederson, so we may see the front office floating around the idea of shopping Pederson for pitching.

Regardless, these deals may not ever happen, but they make logical sense and have somewhat possibility.
