Decent chance of being dealt:

  • Scott Van Slyke and Enrique Hernandez

Despite struggling against left-handed pitching, there is more of a chance that we may see role players Scott Van Slyke and Enrique Hernandez dealt before the left-handers in the outfield. The fact is both make decent backup options, but neither really capitalize in hitting left-handed pitching. The Dodgers may find a role player better suited for their taste, leaving Van Slyke and Hernandez on the trade block.

Van Slyke was recently sent down to AAA, showing that the Dodgers do not need him at the big league level. To say Van Slyke has struggled would be an understatement, as he is batting a crisp .129. Van Slyke not performing this bad is a huge bad sign for his future, as he has been used almost exclusively against left-handed pitchers.

If Van Slyke can not perform well at what his only purpose is, well, it may be time for him to say goodbye to the Dodgers. With Cody Bellinger ready to take the corner outfield/first baseman role, Van Slyke has no place on this Dodgers team.

As for Hernandez, he has not been great this season but he has not been particularly bad either. He has done a decent job in the situations he is put in and has more trade value than Van Slyke. While the Dodgers may not be actively shopping Hernandez, because of his worth as a super utility player the Dodgers may find him a new home in exchange for other assets.
