1988 Los Angeles Dodgers vs Oakland Athletics Game 1
It was voted the greatest moment in LA sports history, the Cinderella Dodgers were facing an Athletics team that had won 104 games on their way to the American League pennant. The Dodgers went into Game 1 of the 1988 World Series without their best player Kirk Gibson who was out with injuries to both legs.
"Vin Scully on NBC: “Sax waiting on deck but the game right now is at the plate…High fly ball into right field, she i-i-i-is… GONE!!!” Jack Buck on CBS Radio: “… then you would run for Gibson and have Sax batting. But, we have a big 3–2 pitch coming here from Eckersley. Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run!!! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, five to four; I don’t believe what I just saw!!!” More from LA Sports Lakers: 5 Players to Target Through Trades to make another championship run LA Sports: Ranking The Best Years in Los Angeles Sports History Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Reasons Fans Should Be Concerned Going Into the Playoffs Los Angeles Lakers vs. Clippers: Three takeaways from face-off No. 4 NFL: Pair of LA wide receivers crack NFL’s 2020 Top 100 list"
Down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth facing the best closer in the majors Dennis Eckersley, the Dodgers called on Kirk Gibson one more time. With a man on second and a full count, Gibson deposited a backdoor slider into the right field bleachers.
Running around the bases on pure adrenaline Gibson pumped his fists as Dodger Stadium shook with euphoria. The home run gave the Dodgers a 5-4 win and propelled the Dodgers to an improbable World Series win.
1982 Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers Game 3
It’s known as the “Miracle on Manchester,” the Kings found themselves down 5-0 against the Oilers heading into the 3rd period of game 3 of their first round series. With nothing to lose the Kings slowly chipped away at the deficit and found themselves down by one goal with a minute left.
"Bob Miller call: “Smith on the draw, A shot by Evans he scores!!!…Darryl Evans wins the game for the Kings!!!!”"
In the frenzied last seconds rookie forward Steve Bozek controlled a rebound in the Oilers net and beat goalie Grant Fuhr to tie the game 5-all with just 5 seconds left. In overtime future Kings radio analyst Darryl Evans took a quick slap shot of the face off to beat Fuhr and win the game 6-5.

The win helped the Kings pull off the series upset as they beat the Oilers a team that would play in the Stanley Cup Finals 6 times in the next 8 years.
