Tony Allen

Another major factor the Lakers have to take into consideration is ways to improve their toughness. Tony Allen, who’s become one of the staples of the Memphis Grizzlies, knows how to play tough.

The Grizzlies are, at the very least, consistent with their grit and grind style of play. Should Los Angeles look into picking the veteran up, they’ll have a defensive presence that they need right away.

No development needed, it’s already ingrained into how Allen plays the game.

With Memphis last season, the twelve year veteran held a stat line of 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. Grabbing Allen out of the free agency pool would mean the Lakers really are going to trust the young core with everything else.

Scoring, efficiency, transitions — all of that will be up to them. Allen will be there for defensive purposes, but they’ll also have someone who they should try to have for the rest of their career.

Staying six straight seasons in Boston to start his career before going to Memphis for what has now been seven is a feat few players can say they did. Hopefully LA can get him for the right price.
