Darrelle Revis

One of the Chargers biggest needs, after releasing Brandon Flowers, is at the cornerback position. The Chargers did address this need, drafting cornerback Desmond King in the fifth round of the draft. While King in the fifth round was a steal, the Chargers should not settle with the hope that King can break out into his full potential.

Therefore, despite bringing in a corner in the draft Los Angeles is going to need to further hammer away at their corner back thinness. Jason Verrett has shown signs of being a franchise corner, but has failed to show that he can remain healthy. Outside of Verrett the only other starting caliber corner is Casey Hayward, and even he can use some improvement.

While the Chargers did just cut Flowers, who was 31, the team should bring in another 31 year old in the likes of Darrelle Revis. Revis has not been tied to the Chargers, with the Patriots being the most likely destination. However, this should not stop the Bolts in pursuing the veteran corner to join their movement in Los Angeles.

Revis is not the same corner that he was a few years ago, I know that. He has lost some quickness and agility, causing top tier receivers like A.J. Green to tear him apart. Revis still though provides veteran leadership in a very young Chargers’ defense and would be a great number two corner behind Jason Verrett.
