J.D. Martinez

Another Detroit Tiger on this list, the Dodgers may and should be interested in J.D. Martinez. Martinez has been out of 2017 with injury, but he is slated to make his return either today or in the next few days. Injury should not be a worry for the Dodgers, and by the time the trade deadline rolls around, we may see these talks intensify.

Martinez, like Braun, would be another great option to add to the Dodgers outfield. Last season Martinez batted .307, slugging 22 home runs and 68 runs batted in. However, Martinez only played in 120 games – he showed us what he could do in a full season in 2015. Martinez’ 2015 clip included a .282 batting average with 38 home runs and 102 runs batted in.

An added plus is that Martinez hits just as well from both sides of the plate, posting a career .281 batting average against both left-handed and right-handed pitching. This gives the Dodgers someone they can slot in the lineup every single day, which is good considering the mix up in the Dodgers outfield.

I have a keen feelings that a deal for any Tiger would have to send away Pederson, alongside a top seven prospect. The Tigers really need left-handed bats, and Pederson would thrive in Detroit. Swapping Martinez with Pederson would be a huge move for the Dodgers, and would still give room for golden boy Cody Bellinger.
