Dodgers Rumors: Ten trade targets for the Dodgers
By Jason Reed
Avisail Garcia
Avisail Garcia is not a household name, and unless you are a keen baseball enthusiast, you likely have not heard of the young outfielder. Garcia is 25, and primarily plays right field for the Chicago White Sox. Although Garcia fits the young narrative that the White Sox are creating, the team may look to cash out on his newfound value and receive a large chunk of trade value.
Garcia is having a great 2017, that is an understatement. Blasting five home runs and 24 runs batted in, Garcia is putting together a .342 clip. Not only is he thriving all around, Garcia is absolutely mashing left-handed pitching, putting together a .469/.485/.688 slash line. Garcia is young, is average in the field at worst, and has a great bat.
Especially with Franklin Gutierrez’ already long injury list this season, adding another right-handed bat into the outfield would be huge for the Dodgers. Garcia would undoubtedly be better than Enrique Hernandez and Scott Van Slyke, and would help the Dodgers with their biggest issue.
Sure, the White Sox may ask for a hefty fee, but the Dodgers may be inclined to offer a top prospect. As much as fans love Verdugo, the team does not need another left-handed hitting outfielder, especially with Pederson already in center. A straight swap between the two may be the most logical.
