Closing Thoughts

Whatever way you cut it, J.J. Redick’s free agency decision won’t be the worst thing to happen to Los Angeles. Losing Paul and/or Griffin has far more dire consequences — but losing all three starters is not where you want to be.

Should they go, the Clippers also could be parting ways with Doc Rivers. All we know for now is that this team has major decisions to make starting this summer, but they’ll have a domino effect for a long time.

If Redick leaves, his plan is to play on a good team, but to also play for a raise. It’s expected that he’ll ask for a salary in the neighborhood of $20 million, which the Clippers might not like to hear.

Other teams will make a push for him, though. Worst case scenario for him is that he lands on a team on the outside looking in.

But either way, he’ll be cashing in like most of the other free agents on the market. And he’s earned his right to finally do so.
