Jose Quintana

Jose Quintana is a great pitcher, there is no doubt about that. At only 28 years of age, Quintana has an immensely high ceiling that could see him become one of baseball’s best. Already considered a great young pitcher throughout the league, Quintana is under contract through 2020, averaging just over nine million dollars owed per year.

At nine million dollars a year, Quintana is an extreme bargain which further raises his value. This Chicago White Sox know this and have been shopping Quintana around. However, as the past has taught us, this White Sox front office has high standards. The price was understandable for Chris Sale, however, we witnessed the Nationals far overpay for Adam Eaton, which is what the White Sox would want for Quintana.

If the Dodgers were to do business with the White Sox they would inevitably be robbed. A few months ago, the Sox likely would have asked for either Julio Urias or Cody Bellinger, but with both in the bigs, they are likely untouchable. In a realistic setting, I see the White Sox asking for a package included Yadier Alvarez and Willie Calhoun.

Giving up the second and fourth best prospect for Quintana is way too much. That is only the baseline as well, the White Sox would likely build upon that with young bullpen arms like Grant Dayton. Quintana has played well and has a great contract, but with the likely asking price, it would be unwise for the Dodgers to do business for him.
