NBA Free Agency 2017: Three teams reportedly interested in J.J. Redick
By Keith Rivas
J.J. Redick will have plenty to look over during NBA Free Agency 2017.
Unfortunately, it looks more and more likely that the Los Angeles Clippers will be the hardest hit by NBA Free Agency 2017. Three starters — Redick, Paul, and Griffin — are all on the market.
A report from SB Nation echoed Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo!, saying that the Nets, Knicks, and 76ers all want to try and get Redick’s attention.
Per the report:
"Woj stated that the Sixers appear to have the most interest, but that the Nets may want to add the 6’4” shooting guard, if the price is right.“Brooklyn, the Knicks are teams that have interest in Redick. We’ll see how far they’re willing to pay,” Woj noted."
If Redick does end up on one of those teams, the feeling is that their direction swiftly changes almost immediately. Now, with him in the lineup, they’ll have a sharpshooter that can work with any role on the roster.
Also, this could be great news for Philadelphia if they can get a great point guard in the 2017 NBA Draft. By the looks of it, Lonzo Ball or De’Aaron Fox will be the best point guard available when they are on the clock with the number three pick.
Preceding them will be the Los Angeles Lakers, who also have a big decision to make. If they pass on Ball for Fox or someone else, this could give Redick good reason to go to Philadelphia.
With the Clippers, he thrived under an offense that operated on Chris Paul’s watch. One core facet of Paul’s game is his passing, which Redick was able to benefit from.
Ball’s best asset is his passing, drawing even Jason Kidd comparisons this early on. It would be devastating to the Clippers if this happens, but that seems out of their control.
